Back from the dead should be the appropriate title for Zlatan’s return to the Premiership.
Zlatan single-handedly spearheaded the United attack last season with 28 goals in all competitions at age 35 but got injured as United prepared to hand him another contract extension towards the end of the season. Jose Mourinho has always said he wanted four signings, well it’s ironic that Zlatan may be the last man to sign (officially) for Manchester United.
What has surprised everyone is Zlatan’s attitude to training that birthed the swift recovery for the 35 year old, meaning he would be available to play this end of the season and not only in the new year as previously anticipated.
How Manchester United attack would line upwith a Zlatan return is the intriguing part for me; Rashford, Lukaku, Martial, Zlatan. Jose has finally conjured up a potent mix of strikers with different qualities, all capable of delivering with different skill sets and variance in qualities. But with United going out on all fronts; Premiwe league, Champions league, FA Cup, EFL cup, United would not be short of quality options all season.
Competition for places and rotation would mean goals and game influence would determine how Jose picks his team for each match and how he goes about the business of rotation this season. United are finally ready for Plan A, B, C and D as they challenge on all fronts.
Welcome back Zlatan, the premiership and champions league need you
