- SUPER EAGLES SOAR TO RUSSIA
Against a fantastic team from Zambia on Saturday evening, Super Eagles of Nigeria beat Zambia by a solitary goal to qualify for the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
Eagles become the first African team to book a place on the world stage next summer, with a game to spare. This is the sixth time Nigeria would be qualifying for a World Cup final.
In a group packed with quality African opposition – Cameroon, Algeria, Zambia – Nigeria emerged top with 13 points.
Congratulations to Coach Gerneot Rohr, his able assistants and technical crew.
Can Nigeria get it right this time by avoiding the politics that surround global tournaments?
Can NFF allow the Coaching crew and not interfere with player selection?
Would the FF agree monetary terms beforehand with the players to avoid the fiasco in Brazil in 2014?
Does this team have the talent to finally deliver for Africa and surprise the world?
What are your views?
What can stop Nigeria from delivering next year in Russia?
Do we have enough quality across defence, midfield and attack to make an impact?
Congratulations to Super Eagles and congratulations Nigeria, well deserved.
Kudos to Rohr, the coaching staff, NFF and the players for a job well done. I just pray nepotism and politics don’t rear their ugly heads now. A lot still needs to be done.
Yeas I agree. If we are serious about making any impact, the focus should be on progress not nepotism or tribalism or the usual politics that mar our campaigns and deflect from the main tournament. The boys are still young and haven’t peaked (at least the newer ones) and I believe that with the addition of tournament experienced players, they can surpass their limits in Russia.
The Eagles did well, they have made up proud, if I have my way I will encourage them to go all out to secure nations cup ticket, even we had a set back, going to nations might help us prepare well as a team for the world up …1994 on my mind!!
I read you bro. Winning brings confidence. Qualifying for Nations cup will definitely bring tournament experience as well . lets see how they fare in the qualifying games remaining.
