KOEMAN SACKED-KLOPP’S DEFENCE MAKES WAY AGAIN-MOURINHO FUMING-RONALDO AND BUFFON WIN
EVERTON GIVE KOEMAN THE BOOT
We all saw that one coming didn’t we? Ronald Koeman sacked as Everton manager after just nine games.
The 5-2 drubbing by Arsenal was the final nail in the coffin that sealed Koeman’s fate: five losses, two draws and minus eleven goals difference with eighteen goals already conceded.
Everton never really got going this season, with what has turned out to be poor trading in the transfer window, and subsequent bad results from pre-season, Koeman was already under pressure before the season started.
So did Everton spend Lukaku’s money wisely?
Was Koeman just too naive to see the curtains were being drawn from under his feet?
Are club chairmen and management board too trigger happy nowadays?
How does Wenger do it though, still keeping his job when most managers lose it after a few bad games?
Neither a counter attacking or possession team, a combination of similar players, lack of pace and bad results cost Koeman his job in the end.
Koeman’s desire is to one day manage Barcelona. Who knows? Does this open the door for him early to do so or is that dream effectively on ice for the foreseeable future? We wish him all the best in his next endeavours.
MOURINHO GETS THE WEEK’S WAGES AT HUDDERSFIELD
The 0-0 draw at Anfield seems to have turned back the hands of the clock at Old Trafford as Huddersfield put a dent on Jose’s bus on Saturday.
Pulling the hand brakes at Anfield, set the United bus on a spin and when Mourinho kept talking up his respect for Benfica during pre-match interviews, Jose was pulling apart the railings that kept the bridge from giving way. An uninspiring 0-1 win away to Benfica however, continued the wobble, and Saturday’s game against Huddersfield saw the bus tilt for the first time.
Is this United team feeling the pressure of the ‘title favourite’ tag?
Can Jose get the job done without beating the big five?
Can United afford to drop any more points against smaller teams?
How would Saturday’s defeat affect the team short term?
Is it possible that the games at Anfield and Portugal have affected the players’ morale?
United have scaled the immediate test by beating Swansea comfortably in the Carabao cup tonight.
Next is Tottenham over the weekend and both sides are level on points on the league table, with United ahead due to their superior goals difference.
Can they beat Spurs or would it be two defeats in a row for Mourinho?
RONALDO BEATS MESSI AND BUFFON OVERCOMES NEUER AT BEST FIFA PLAYER AWARDS
Congratulations to CR7 Cristiano Ronaldo for once again winning the “New” Baloon D’or over arch rival, Lionel Messi.
Another proof that handwork pays and it’s a supplement and substitute for talent.
Congratulations to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Hats off to Gianluigi Buffon as well, winning the FIFA Best goalkeeper award: 10 Serie A league titles, World Cup winner and a fantastic stopper who went 600 minutes without conceding a champions league goal.
The 39 year old has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world for a decade and has announced his retirement at the end of this season.
Congratulations to Buffon and all the best this season.
CAN KLOPP EVER SHUT HIS BACK DOOR PROPERLY?
7-0 against Maribor, and the Klopp’s team was beaming with confidence after the champions league game midweek.
But by 47 minutes at Wembley, against Tottenham Hotspurs, the contest was already over and once again it was the Liverpool defenders who cost the team the game with woeful defending.
With relentless counter attacking pressure from Tottenham, Liverpool buckled once agin and the central defence left a big crater through its middle, which could only have ben created by a the force of Hurricane Harry and his compatriots.
Can Liverpool win anything under Klopp this season?
For Klopp’s team, its still one step forward and two backwards since the beginning of the season, clearly no longer regarded as one of the title contenders as early as this in the season.
12 points behind league leaders after just 9 games is four games behind already.
So why did Klopp let Sakho leave for Palace?
Didn’t Klopp know he has defensive frailties when recruiting for the season?
What now for Coutinho as it seems the title race would be over by December?
Does Klopp have any other trick under his hat?
We would soon find out
