HARRY KANES SLOVENIA AS ENGLAND ROMP TO RUSSIA
It had to Harry Kane – as Tottenham fans say, one of us – who sent England to Russia in a lack lustre display against Slovenia.
After an 88 minute stalemate, in which either of the sides could have taken the lead, but for world class stops from both keepers, Harry Kane finally did what he is fast forming a habit of doing best, break the opposition hearts.
Is Harry Kane already better that Luis Suarez, Robert Lewadowski, Sergio Aguero and Edison Cavani?
Is Harry close to moving to Real Madrid or Barcelona or Bayern?
Who can beat Kane in goal scoring, in Europe on present form?
Would Tottenham be able to keep him beyond next summer, especially if he goes to Russia to perform excellently?
Even when England or Tottenham have off days, they can always rely on Kane to produce something and he is gradually carving out a reputation for himself.
Another bright spark on the night was Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United striker who was at it from the first minute.
Under Mourinho, Rashford is developing into a fantastic player and with a bit of more composure and game time, I am sure he will go on to become a world star.
As for the three Lions, Still a long way to go in my opinion to be able to provide quality resistance to the big four : Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Germany, but there is a lot of time between now and next summer to put things right.
Defence was still all over the place with Stones and Cahill, the attackers tried but there was something missing in that team.
As Rio Ferdinand said recently ; “you need a locksmith to unlock the combination that’s keeping you out of the game.
You could forgive the midfield but I felt the duo of Dier, Henderson is a bit defensive, but still a long way to go
I think Gareth needs a little magician to unlock the safe and he needs to find a way to fit the player in very soon as momentum gathers.
Congratulations Gareth Southgate, the work begins now.
