Potentially four points between the first four teams with ten games to go and several games in hand this is what the fans love to see.
I said it last week that Tottenham are one to watch out for as we manoeuvre the last bend towards the EPL title. It’s show time tonight because they go to West ham in a game that would determine how much they can take in the kitchen. If they win tonight, then the musical chairs would start at the top until the last day of the season –Teams would have games in hand and drop points all the way.
When I talk about the pressure of being league leaders affecting Leicester, I truly mean it but with this Tottenham team, they look like they can’t wait to have one over Arsenal FC at last.
Can’t wait to see how the battle unfolds in East London tonight.
Leicester dropped crucial points over the weekend, but I was impressed with their tenacity and will to win even at 2-2 against WBA over the weekend. I think they are still in it, but the pressure continues to pile up on them and was evident in the missed chances against WBA.
Its squeaky bum time and it’s getting even more exciting!
How they react now is so crucial if they want to finish top three and avoid the champions league playoffs.
Manchester City drew the first blood on Sunday by winning the League Cup. I am very delighted for Manuel Pellegrini because of the way his departure has been announced and the effect it must have had on him, his family and even the players and staff.
He has survived it by winning another title so the pressure is off. A gentleman, a man of integrity and very true sportsman, I question his managerial capabilities at times, but hey, give it to him, it’s not easy to manage millionaires.
They kick off against Liverpool in a few minutes, in a repeat of Sunday’s final. They were not convincing in their win on Sunday, they struggled at times especially in midfield and they fluffed many chances but they still won so momentum is with them.
If they pass the test tonight and win over the weekend, they’re back in it. My worry for City? Champions League midweek games, as the squad is already stretched and most of the players are over 25, they may struggle to cope with fixture congestion.
Arsenal? I just don’t believe they blew the game at Old Trafford on Sunday. To win the title, you have to win the games that are ‘unwinnable’ and win the ones that you just have to win. Sunday’s game was a mixture of both so it was a must win game.
Arsenal players strolled on to the pitch and just pressed self destruct buttons all over the pitch in the first thirty five minutes, playing as if they were playing against a B team.
By the time they realised that they had a game on their hands, it was all over. It was all over on Sunday but I hope that was not curtains for the season!
As for United, a fantastic performance that once again showed the power of investing in a youth program. The United boys just walked onto the pitch and just did a job without any fears and pressure. Hopefully they can go on and mount a sustained challenge for the last Champions league spot, if LVG continues to keep faith with the young boys
Game on!
