– [ ] For the neutrals and the hopefuls, the season is a long way off from being over, and I hope so, (hope being the trigger word) but realistically, unless the team self destruct and give in to in fighting caused by egos, or suffer an avalanche of injuries, you would have to say they are unstoppable and may remain so for a considerable period of time.
– [ ] City have spent €463 million in two seasons under Pep Guardiola, €120 million more than Manchester United, €160 million more than Chelsea, €220 million more than Arsenal and €200 million more than Liverpool and €300 million more than Tottenham Hotspurs!
– [ ] If you look at the league table, you’ll see that the picture is not too far from the difference we have seen here in the money. Tottenham who were the closest challengers for the league last year are already 21 points behind City, Liverpool are 18 points behind and the champions of last season are already 14 points behind.
– [ ] Honestly, the realistic contenders for the title, if city were to slip, is at the moment who seemed to have made grounds from last year is Manchester United who are 11
– [ ] points behind and perhaps Chelsea.
– [ ] United fans have Jose Mourinho to thank for closing the gap (and it’s a huge one) to the top clubs Chelsea and Manchester United after a disastrous Post- Fergie era
– [ ] The amazing thing is that a section of the fans still criticise the players and manager for coming second.
– [ ] Understandably the fans are frustrated due to the party going on at the blue end of town, but sometimes, patience is needed, not just at Old Trafford, but at the top five clubs.
– [ ] If it is the money wheel spinning at the Etihad from Qatar, spinning Manchester City towards the league at a pace never been seen before, it would even get worse before it gets better. The money wheel will spin again even more so, in January, and in June.
– [ ] The money has gotten the best players, the best backroom staff, the best academy, the best coaches and one of the best managers, but let us give credit to pep Guardiola and his recruiting team as well.
– [ ] They have conjured up a team of athletic magicians with goals written all over them.
– [ ] There is no shame as to how you decide to play City at the moment: pity Tottenham decided to go toe to toe, pity Liverpool went gong-ho against them. The only teams that have had any chance against City have been the teams who keep it tight at the back and looked to break or get a set piece.
– [ ] Now until teams spend as much as City have spent, and until they recruit the right personnel that City have recruited, there is no chance of catching up with them at the moment.
– [ ] The only team close to City in terms of quality is Chelsea, but somehow the ship is rocking haphazardly at the bridge at this time and Chelsea can’t build on the success of last season.
– [ ] The scary thing is that the players are not just playing like Ferraris and Bentleys, but they’re adding the tank and bulldozers defensively, and the superstars work harder than any other team defensively.
– [ ] And they would even get better, considering their age.
– [ ] Finally, its kudos to Pep Guardiola for sticking to his football philosophy and producing one of the best teams we have ever seen in the premiership in recent times. He is defying all logic of the Premier league: the rain, the cold nights, the the wet days, the bogey teams, the windy stadia and the tenacity of English players. It’s December, so let’s see if he overcomes the punishing Christmas fixtures. But then when you think City walloped Spurs with David Silva not even playing, company non existent, Gabriel Jesus and Bernado Silva on the bench, and Yaya Toure a luxury on the bench. Plus, Benjamin Mendy and John Stones also injured, the signs are ominous for the rest of the premiership. Qatar money is building a theatre of dreams beside the neighbours at Old Trafford.
Earlier in the season I said I would cautiously put my money on Man city. That was when Man U was still vying with them. Now it is clear which is the better team. If they keep things up at this rate, they would wrap up the season by April

Well, should we just hand the title to them, or is there reason for the optimist to still be hopeful of a close finish?
They still need to fight to the end, but if what we’ve seen so far is anything to go by, u can be sure to hand it to them by may. They have proven to be unstoppable this first half of the season. Let’s see how the next half looks like, with the F.A cup, Champions league and league cup all coming to the fore. Definitely they should trip up somewhere, otherwise we should start thinking of giving them the treble which is not something we see often in England!!!
Yes I would be cautious until the new year and the FA cup and Champions league and League cup begin to add casualties. We would see
