SANCHEZ FINALLY JOINS JOSE’S ARMY
There was huge talk of a done deal in the summer for Alexis Sanchez, moving to the blue end of Manchester.
But five months later, it’s Jose’s Red Army that Sanchez joins in one of the biggest transfer coups of the year!
Something happened beneath the scenes: perhaps someone in Sanchez’s camp alerted Jose’s gang that Sanchez would prefer a move to United? Maybe someone close to Sanchez dropped a hint about Sanchez and Pep’s time together at Barca?
“The chance to play in this historic stadium and work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down”
If anyone doubted Jose Mourinho’s magnetic power, here is another proof that Jose can deliver: Zlatan, Pogba, Matic and now Sanchez…
It would be very interesting what happens in the next nine months in the league.
That City were not happy to pay crazy money is beyond belief. Is this a new approach by City not to spend on lots of money, or is this just an attempt to explain their failure in the Sanchez saga? After all City is supposed to be the bigger team, (in this moment) supposed to win the league, supposed to attract the best players because of their brand of football, and Pep is supposed to be the most sought after manager.
But no! Sanchez has chosen United and Mourinho and that must send a warning to the Premiership in general; United is coming! United is not finished!
Whatever it is, Jose has gotten his man again (and no disrespect to David Moyes and Louis VanGaal, only Jose, post-Fergie could bring the current crop of players to United) as City immediately announce Kevin DeBruyne’s contract extension in a bid to say “we are still building for the future too”
Jose is Sanchez’s attraction no doubt about it (players talk and believe it or not, most have the utmost respect for Jose Mourinho) and let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to play for Manchester United? Forget the post-Fergie era and the Roman Revolution, Manchester United and Liverpool have been the dominant forces in English football for ages and I think Jose is starting to shape a team ready to take United back to that era.
Perhaps as Jose Mourinho did with Cesc Fabregas’s Signing at Chelsea, maybe
Manchester United have bought the
Player who would catalyse United onto the pinnacle Of British football again, just like Cantona, just like Ronaldo, George Best, Beckham and the other great United players. One thing is for sure though, City and Guardiola would not stay still and Chelsea and Roman would not hold fire, they would both strive to improve their teams and make it a duty to compete and stay on top for years to come…..
CYRILLE REGIS -THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU GAVE
Football lost a legend and an ambassador when Cyrille Regis breathed his last, some days ago.
Glowing tributes have gone to the man who was a role model and fantastic sportsman.
Football would always remember him: he gave young black players hope and he silently engaged discrimination, through his powerful displays on the pitch.
A pioneer who fought racism and any form of abuse, he knew exactly how, without lifting a finger or shouting any word, to rise above racism at a time when it was fashionable to do so.
Taken into a convent when he was little, he had his struggles growing up. He was rejected by several clubs. He walked half an hour to his first game at Albion and scored two goals.
He changed attitudes with his performances, each week, each month and each year after year. He carried himself as a man and just smiled (even though he just couldn’t understand it) in the face of discrimination and loud monkey chants!
Images of Cyrille Regis on TV inspired many black players to think “they could” at a time when the message was “you can’t” His own Success (directly and indirectly) as a black first division player, contributed to the rise in number of black players who were Willing to venture into football as a profession.
Thank you Cyrille, May your legacy never die and may God Almighty continue to bless the works you left behind
I pray for strength for his family at such a time like this.
NOT SO SILVA LINING
When Marco Silva began the season at the Vicarage ground last summer, expectations were extremely high. As Watford romped through games and destroyed teams, Silva was hailed as the next best thing to come out of English football.
How times change in the twinkle of an eye. Enter Everton FC after Ronald Koeman and they tried everything possible to lure Silva away but Watford insisted “no deal”
The Pozzo family were not happy and threatened to report to the FA, forcing Everton to back off, but the seed of discontent, mistrust, anger and hostility had been sown, Pozzo-Silva relationship would not be the same again, would it?
It came as no surprise then as the Pozzos announced the divorce from their partner Marco Silva, caused by the unwanted advances of a third party, which has resulted in irreparable damage to the whole relationship and organisation.
The boy done good had become the bad boy thrown to the dogs.
Watford would have to pay Silva off or keep him on the books and still keep paying his salary.
Shame isn’t it? If you were Marco Silva, would you have left when Everton came calling? And should Watford have cashed in on the offer from Everton and looked for another manager?
The hangman has been busy this year in the premiership and the guillotine does not stop coming in the post: Frank Deboer, Craig Shakespeare, Ronald Koeman, Slaven Billic, Tony Pulis, Paul Clement, Mark Hughes, Marco Silva.
In this crazy managerial spectacle, who would be next? You wouldn’t really bet on anybody avoiding the chop would you?
