Jide Olugbodi is a former Nigerian footballer who played professionally for Mohammedan SC, FC Schaffhausen in Switzerland, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in Germany, SC Austria Lustenau in Austria and Brentford FC in England. Olugbodi had been called up to the Nigeria football national squad on numerous occasions, but failed to make an appearance due to injuries and other reasons.
Jide had a brief stint with the 3SC (Shooting Stars FC Ibadan) in 1995/96 before he moved to Bangladesh where he played for Bangladeshi side Mohammedan SC. He moved to Swiss side FC Schaffhausen midseason in 1997 before joining German side Rot-Weiß Oberhausen staying for two years in the Regionalliga and 2nd German Bundesliga. His talents materialised in 1999/2000 when he joined Austrian Bundesliga club SC Austria Lustenau, where he enjoyed 4 remarkable seasons, including UEFA inter toto cup matches.
In October 2003, Olugbodi joined English Second Division side Brentford and made his debut in the 3–0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on 4 October, replacing Eddie Hutchinson as a substitute in the 72nd minute. Olugbodi signed a new short-term contract with Brentford in early November, keeping him at the club until December, making a total of five appearances for Brentford in all competitions, including the Second Division, the Football League Trophy and FA Cup.
Jide was called up to the Nigeria Super Eagles squad to face Jamaica at Loftus Road in London on 7 November 2001. And due to injury, he was forced to withdraw from the 54-man Nigeria 2002 world cup squad that was due to play Paraguay in March 2002, along with other forwards John Utaka and Dele Adebola. In early 2004, he was called up again to the Super Eagles team to play Japan in a friendly tournament in Japan.
